WRECK ON PARKWAY: Three flown to hospital

BLOOMINGTON – Three men from Magoffin County were flown out after a two-vehicle collision on the Mountain Parkway Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 5 p.m. on September 3, a blue pickup truck crossed the centerline on the Mountain Parkway at the Cow Creek overpass (mile marker 68) and hit another pickup truck head-on. It is believed that the blue truck had vehicle trouble, causing the driver to lose steering control, but officials confirmed there was over 100 feet of black marks from the truck, indicating it tried to stop.

The Mountain Parkway was shut down for over an hour as emergency crews set up a landing zone for helicopters, with three men flown out. Two were taken to Pikeville Medical Center and one to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Adam Watkins and Cody Hill were reportedly in the blue truck, and Colton Howes was in the white truck. Their status at press time is unknown.
