Stacy named to HCAC All-Freshman Team

LEXINGTON - Magoffin County High School graduate Kennedi Stacy has been named to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team. 

Stacy excelled for Transylvania University during the 2019-20 women's college basketball season, finishing fifth on the team in scoring with a 7.2 points per game average. As a freshhman, Stacy appeared in all 27 games for the Pioneers, making 11 starts. The freshman from Salyersville averaged 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Stacy excelled as both a scorer and a rebounder, finishing fourth on her team in rebounds. She was second in rebounding among guards.

Stacy netted double digits eight times and scored a career-high 21 points against Bluffton on February 29 in the HCAC Women's Basketball Tournament Semfinals.

The former Magoffin County High School standout finished 4-of-5 from 3-point range and was 7-for-10 overall in the matchup versus Bluffton. 

Stacy claimed a career-high nine rebounds at Franklin on January 8.

Transylvania ended the 2019-20 season 25-3 following a loss to Randolph-Macon in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament. Under head coach Juli Fulks, Transylvania reeled off 19 straight wins. Perennial title contender Transylvania stretched its conference winning streak to 33 straight wins.

Stacy scored over 1,500 points and pulled down 500-plus rebounds during her prep career with the Magoffin County High School girls' basketball program. Stacy, who earned numerous honors during her prep career, tallied 658 points, 355 rebounds, 93 assists and 133 steals as a senior at Magoffin County High School. She shot 36.3 percent from the field and 68.5 from the free throw line during her senior season.

Stacy scored a career-high 41 points in a game at Robertson County.
