Skaggs named Academic All-Mid-South Conference


BOWLING GREEN - The University of Pikeville softball team's excellence in the classroom was recognized Wednesday, May 1 as a conference-high 11 players were named to the Academic All-Mid-South Team.

Junior varsity players Kristen Moore and Ashonda Underwood; sophomores Emme Barker, Megan Claypoole and Haley Osborne; juniors Hannah Absher, Carrie Griffin, Shelbi Knauer and Hannah Skaggs; and seniors Mercedes Boggs and Jordan Gentry all earned the award. Skaggs is a Magoffin County High School graduate.

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must appear on the eligibility sheet, maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

For Gentry and Griffin, this marks their third year winning the award; while it is the second time being honored for Skaggs and Underwood.

Community Trust Bank is the sponsor of the Mid-South Conference Academic Award program.
