Poe crowned Miss Magoffin

The Miss Magoffin County Pageant was held Friday night, August 30, 2019, at the Prater’s Fort Cabin Complex in downtown Salyersville. Emceeing the pageant was Magoffin County’s own Jim Caldwell, weatherman at WKYT-TV in Lexington and his morning news colleague, Andrea Walker. The theme for the pageant was “Beach Party” and featured local singers, musicians and actors who entertained the crowd along with Heritage Days pageant winners.

Three lovely young ladies competed for the title in the three phases of the competition: Private Interview, Talent, Evening Gown and On-Stage Interview.

Brooklyn Poe, the 18-year-old daughter of Dwight and Melinda Poe of Salyersville, was crowned on Friday night as Miss Magoffin County 2019/2020. A sophomore at Morehead State University, she is majoring in Elementary Education. Her social impact initiative is “Preventing Child Abuse Across America”. For her talent, she sang her rendition of Sara Evan’s “No Place That Far.”

As the new Miss Magoffin County, Poe is receiving a scholarship, official sash, flowers from Town & Country Flowers, trophy, official Miss America local crown, gift certificate from Tropical Isle Tanning and sponsorship to the Miss Kentucky Pageant held in Louisville, KY in June of 2020.
