Ten years since the project started with the purchase of the church property, the new Magoffin County Public Library is officially open to the public. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Monday, December 16, with the community touring the building for the first time. Above, Salyersville Mayor James "Pete" Shepherd, Representative John Blanton, Library Director Melanie Cain, Library Board Member Tracy Watson, Magoffin County Judge-Executive Matt Wireman and Library Board Member Barbara Patrick cut the ceremonial ribbon. Left, the children's section was a big hit Monday night, with kids checking out the book selection and Miss Magoffin Brooklyn Poe reading to the audience.
