SALYERSVILLE - The Magoffin County High School boys' and girls' basketball teams will be on display during the Maroon-White Shootout on Friday, Nov. 22.

The preseason high school basketball event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

The Lady Hornets, under the direction of head coach Justin Williams, advanced to the 2018-19 15th Region Girls' Basketball Tournament. Magoffin County knocked off Sheldon Clark in the 2018-19 57th District Girls' Basketball Tournament to advance to the region event. The Lady Hornets finished runner-up to Johnson Central in the 57th District.

Following a loss to Floyd Central in the opening round of the 15th Region Girls' Basketball Tournament, Magoffin County concluded the 2018-19 season 7-25.

The Hornets compiled a 15-15 record during the 2018-19 season but fell short in a bid to qualify for the 15th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament. Magoffin County lost to eventual 15th Region champion Johnson Central in the 57th District Boys' Basketball Tournament Semifinals.

The Maroon-White Shootout will serve as a fundraiser for the Magoffin County basketball teams and fans are urged to attend and show their support for the squads. Concessions will be sold throughout the preseason high school event.

Different games and activities will be held during the Maroon-White Shootout, which will feature the introduction of various Magoffin County teams.

Each Magoffin County High School basketball team will tip off the 2019-20 season in early-December.
