Man and child injured in wreck
SOUTH MAGOFFIN – Two were injured, including a juvenile, in a Monday morning wreck in the South Magoffin area.
Rescue crews were dispatched to KY Rt. 404, near the junction of Rt. 7, at 8:16 a.m. on December 17.
There were two people in the car, the driver, Nathan Slone, and his juvenile daughter. The two were on the way to school reportedly, when the vehicle went over an embankment and struck a tree.
Slone refused medical treatment at the scene, but the juvenile was taken by ambulance to Highlands Regional Medical Center.
After the driver refused medical treatment Magoffin County Sheriff Department Deputy Jonathan Holbrook took him into custody and charged him with driving under the influence, aggravating circumstance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for not wearing a seatbelt.
Holbrook took Slone to the hospital to be medically cleared, with reason to believe he actually was injured, and both he and his daughter have since been transferred to the University of Kentucky Hospital.
Their status is unknown at press time.
