Magoffin teen arrested after alleged assault

SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County woman is behind bars after an alleged assault on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, July 30, Salyersville Police Department Officer Mike Nickels reported in the arrest citation that he was working a case in which two women were fighting, with the victim being sent to the hospital with injuries requiring surgery to her face.

Macey May, 18, of East Maple Street, Salyersville, was arrested just before 7 p.m. on East Maple Street and charged with one count of second-degree assault, a Class C felony.

Police reported there was a video from the incident, showing a woman get on top of another woman, hitting her repeatedly in the face, with a man’s voice antagonizing the fight, stating, “Don’t slap me, again,” and “There you go, hit me, again.”

Law enforcement believe the man in the video to be the victim’s husband, Adam Minix, 43, also of Salyersville. He was arrested in June and charged with custodial interference.

The victim, Theresa Minix, via a family member, has asked Mortimer Media Group to use her name and photos of her injuries in this news story.

May is being held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond. At press time on Wednesday no court date has been set in the case.
