Magoffin native killed in fatal Morgan Co. wreck


MORGAN COUNTY – A former Magoffin County man was fatally injured in a motorcycle vs. vehicle wreck in Morgan County on Friday. 

On May 31, 2019, Kentucky State Police Post 8 was notified at approximately 1:17 p.m. of an injury collision on US 460 East near White oak Road in Morgan County. 

After further investigation, KSP determined Darrin Adams, 22 years old, of West Liberty, was operating a 2011 Dodge Ram traveling eastbound on US 460. Robin Holbrook, 58 years old of Banner, KY, was driving a 2013 White Can-Am, also traveling east and following Adams. Holbrook reportedly attempted to pass Adams, striking a 2004 Ford pickup, driven by Ricky Whitley, 68 years old of Salyersville. 

Holbrook received fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased by Morgan County Coroner Raymond VanCleave. 

Kentucky State Police was assisted by Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and Morgan County EMS and Fire. The collision remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.

Robin Holbrook, formerly of Salyersville, was a physician assistant for Big Sandy Health Care at the Eula Hall Health Center, working at the Mud Creek Clinic for 29 years.
