Magoffin County to meet Raceland in scrimmage

SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County will face Raceland in the 2019 Hutch 15th Region Preseason Challenge at Johnson Central High School on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Johnson Central-hosted preseason event will feature boys' high school basketball teams from the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th regions.
The Magoffin County-Raceland boys' basketball game is set to tip off at 4 p.m.
Magoffin County ended the 2018-19 season 15-15. The Hornets lost to eventual 15th Region champion Johnson Central in the opening round of the 2018-19 57th District Boys' Basketball Tournament.
Head coach Scott Castle guides the Hornets. Magoffin County remained active throughout the offseason.
The Hornets opened preseason practice in mid-October.
Raceland compiled a 16-14 record in the 2018-19 season. The Rams finished runner-up in the 63rd District and made an appearance in the 16th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament.
Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Floyd Central for a season opener on December 2.
The other matchups set for the 2019 Hutch 15th Region Preseason Challenge include Prestonsburg vs. Letcher County Central, Lawrence County vs. Perry County Central, Belfry vs. Russell,
Shelby Valley vs. Knott County Central, Paintsville vs. Clay County and Johnson Central vs. Rowan County.
