Magoffin County football team opens offseason workouts
SALYERSVILLE - Members of the Magoffin County football program resumed offseason workouts at the start of the week. Mandatory weightlifting for the Magoffin County football team started on Monday.
The Justin Combs-coached Hornets are already busy preparing for the 2019 season. On Monday, Magoffin County football players tested on bench, squat and power clean.
Magoffin County concluded the 2018 season 3-7, notching wins over East Ridge, Betsy Layne and Knott County Central. The Hornets dropped games to East Carter, Lawrence County, Harlan, Powell County, Morgan County, Estill County and Breathitt County during the 2018 season, missing out on advancing to the Class 3A State Playoffs. Showing improvement during multiple games, Magoffin County compiled a 1-4 record in Class 3A, District 7. Magoffin County is a former Class 3A, District 7 champion.
The weight room will be open to Magoffin County football players on certain days during the upcoming Christmas break.
Magoffin County will finalize and release its 2019 schedule later in the offseason.
