Magoffin County drops district match to JC
SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County fell behind early and couldn't recover from its slow start as visiting Johnson Central eventually pulled away to win 3-0 in a 57th District volleyball match on Tuesday.
The victory allowed Johnson Central to return to the win column following a loss to East Ridge five days earlier.
Magoffin County remained winless as a result of the setback.
With the loss, Magoffin County dropped to 0-11 overall and 0-3 in the 57th District.
Johnson Central improved to 8-8 overall and 2-1 in the district with the win.
The Lady Eagles won 25-17, 25-10, 25-17.
Individual statistics from the Magoffin County-Johnson Central volleyball match were unavailable at press time.
Longtime rivals, Magoffin County and Johnson Central could meet again in the postseason.
Magoffin County was visiting Martin County for another 57th District match on Wednesday. The Magoffin County-Martin County volleyball match ended too late to make this edition.
The Lady Hornets are scheduled to host Estill County on Thursday.
Magoffin County has additional regular-season matches remaining versus Martin County, Morgan County, Buckhorn, Paintsville, June Buchanan, Shelby Valley and Betsy Layne.
