Lovely concludes sophomore season with Herd

Former Magoffin County standout Jaren Lovely has concluded his sophomore season with the Marshall University baseball team.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Magoffin County High School graduate Jaren Lovely has concluded his sophomore season with the Marshall University baseball program.
Lovely, an outfielder, appeared in 33 games for the Thundering Herd during the 2019 college baseball season, making 18 starts. He batted .240 with 18 hits and 11 runs.
Lovely exited the 2019 season with five doubles, one triple, one home run and 20 RBIs.
Marshall finished runner-up to Rice in the 2019 Conference USA Baseball Tournament. The Thundering Herd completed the 2019 season with a 29-28 record.
With Lovely headed into his junior year, Marshall will return to the field for the 2020 season in February.
As a freshman in 2018, Lovely appeared in 17 games and made one start. He batted .250 in 2018. A native of Salyersville, Lovely recorded one hit in four separate games during his freshman season and pitched three innings in a contest versus Louisiana Tech. He allowed only two hits with a 3.00 ERA in his pitching appearance.
Prior to coming to Marshall University, Lovely held a .487 batting average and a 7-2 record as a pitcher at Magoffin County High School.
The son of Jeff and Melissa Lovely, Jaren Lovely is majoring in Cytotechnology.
