SALYERSVILLE - Senior quarterback Lucas Litteral is anxious to help lead Magoffin County in the 2020 high school football season.

In the process of helping to lead Magoffin County on the gridiron during his senior campaign, Litteral wants to help pave the way for underclassmen.

"One of the things I want to do is help to get all of the underclassmen ready for the future," said Litteral. "I want this football program to be successful for years to come."

A versatile athlete who has excelled in football, basketball and baseball, Litteral sets a solid example for underclassmen. The hardworking senior quarterback is focused on the 2020 high school football season and producing for his team.

Litteral delivered for Magoffin County as a senior in 2019, ranking second in passing and fourth in rushing for the Hornets.

Through the air during the 2019 high school football season, Litteral completed 29 of 72 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.

Litteral threw only one interception and contributed on the ground as well. Versatile, Litteral rushed 22 times for 127 yards and one touchdown in 2019.

Focused on his duties as a quarterback, Litteral will take on an even larger role for Magoffin County during the 2020 high school football season. His passing numbers are expected to improve and he'll also likely amass more yardage on the ground.

"We want to continue working hard, build a winning program and get into the playoffs," said Litteral. "I feel like we have an opportunity to shock some people this season. We weren't able to compete in any preseason scrimmages but practices have been good and things are coming together."

The Hornets' 2020 schedule is made up of games versus Betsy Layne, Martin County, Belfry, Lawrence County, Floyd Central, Pike County Central, Clay County, Morgan County and Knott County Central. Litteral and his Magoffin County teammates are preparing to host Betsy Layne in a season opener on Friday, Sept. 11.
