SALYERSVILLE - Visiting Lawrence County outscored Magoffin County 20-5 in the third quarter to pull away to win 56-38 in a girls' high school basketball game on Tuesday (Jan. 21). 

With the loss, Magoffin County dropped to 2-14.  

Lawrence County improved to 10-9 with the win.  

Productive Lawrence County County shot 46.5 percent (20-of-43) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs were 6-of-17 (35.3 percent) from 3-point range. 

Lawrence County shot 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line.  

Haley Barnett led Magoffin County with 15 points and eight rebounds. Barnett was 5-of-12 from the field.  

Macy Thacker accompanied Barnett in double figures for the Lady Hornets, scoring 10 points.  

The additional scorers for Magoffin County were Shay Blanton (six points), Angel Mullis (five points) and Stephanie Helton (two points).  

Magoffin County shot 29.3 percent (12-of-41) from the field in the setback. The Lady Hornets were 1-for-10 from 3-point range. 

Magoffin County, which suffered its third straight loss, shot 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the free throw line. Lawrence County defeated the Lady Hornets for the second time in the 2019-20 girls' high school basketball season.
