Lady Hornets slated to host JC for district opener

SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County is slated to host Johnson Central for a 57th District girls' basketball opener on December 4.

Longtime district rivals, Magoffin County and Johnson Central are due to meet for a district matchup early in the 2020-21 girls' high school basketball season. 

Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Montgomery County for a girls' high school basketball season open on November 23.

The Lady Hornets concluded the 2019-20 girls' high school basketball season 2-26 after falling to host Martin County in the 57th District Semifinals.  

Johnson Central swept Magoffin County in a pair of 57th District games in the 2019-20 hoops season. The Lady Eagles finished runner-up to Martin County in the 2019-20 57th District Girls' Basketball Tournament. Johnson Central suffered a season-ending one-point loss to much-improved Belfry in the 2019-20 15th Region Girls' Basketball Tournament, concluding the latest hoops campaign 16-15. 

Under the direction of head coach Justin Williams, Magoffin County is due to open preseason practice in mid-October.
