Lady Hornets showing improvement


SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County continues to show improvement in the 2019 high school volleyball season. 

Despite opening the 2019 high school season 0-4, Magoffin County has managed to fare well offensively and defensively during multiple early-season matches.

Currently, Abby Hannah leads Magoffin County in both kills (7) and assists (17). Another key contributor, Makenna Jordan, paces Magoffin County in service aces (6) and ranks second in digs (16). 

Tarah Russell leads Magoffin County in assists (3) while Jackie Arnett paces the the Lady Hornets in blocks (6). 

Magoffin County entered the week with regular-season matches remaining versus Jackson City, Morgan County, Estill County, Betsy Layne, June Buchanan, Shelby Valley, Johnson Central, Martin County, Buckhorn and Paintsville.  

The Lady Hornets were hosting 14th Region member Jackson City on Wednesday. Results from the Magoffin County-Jackson City volleyball match were unavailable at press time. 

Head coach Kelsey Salyer guides the Lady Hornets. Magoffin County will compete in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament in October.
