Lady Hornets show improvement in loss to Shelby Valley

Bradley Freewill Baptist Church gave the Magoffin County High School volleyball team a fun evening away from school and the court earlier in the month.

SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County was able to win a set in a recent home match versus 15th Region rival Shelby Valley. The Lady Hornets showed improvement but Shelby Valley eventually pulled away to win 3-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Shelby Valley won 23-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.

Familiar 15th Region rivals, Magoffin County and Shelby Valley met for a non-district match. 

With the loss, Magoffin County dropped to 0-10.

Shelby Valley improved to 3-9 with the win.

The Lady Hornets record 12 kills, seven assists, 70 digs and 16 service aces in the non-district match. 

Abby Hannah (five kills, 14 digs, four service aces), Katelyn Howard (one kill, 24 digs, eight service aces), Mackenzie Elkins (one kill, two assists, two digs, two service aces), Tarah Russell (two kills, four assists, nine digs, one service ace), Sophia Patrick (12 digs), Lauryn Whitaker (one assist, six digs), Jackie Arnett (two kills, three digs) and Makenna Jordan (one kill, one service ace) each contributed for the Lady Hornets.
