Hornets drop district game at Johnson Central


PAINTSVILLE - After notching back-to-back wins, Magoffin County stumbled on the road as host Johnson Central pulled away to win 12-2 in five innings in a 57th District baseball game on Tuesday. 

With the loss, Magoffin County slipped to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the 57th District.

Johnson Central, fresh off a trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. over Spring Break, improved to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in the district with the win.

Statistics from the Magoffin County-Johnson Central baseball matchup were unavailable at press time on Wednesday. 

Magoffin County was hosting Johnson Central in another 57th District baseball game at press time. Complete coverage of the Magoffin County-Johnson Central baseball series will appear in next week's edition. 

The Hornets have additional regular-season games remaining versus Morgan County, Elliott County, Paintsville, Shelby Valley, Betsy Layne, Sheldon Clark, Floyd Central, Powell County, Phelps, Estill County, Breathitt County, Knott County Central, Pike County Central, Bath County and Montgomery County.
