Garrett named Academic All-MSC for third time


PIKEVILLE - Magoffin County High School graduate Kennedy Garrett was one of 10 University of Pikeville cheerleaders to be named Academic All-Mid-South Conference for the 2019-20 schoolyear.

UPIKE's 10 honorees was the most in the conference.

Garrett is a junior and earned the academic honor for the third straight year.

Along with Garrett, freshman Madison Campbell, sophomore Emily Newville, additional juniors Amanda Back, Ashley Belcher, Autumn Chaney, Sara Coots and Morgyn Dixon and seniors Kendra Gannon and Taylor Sowards earned the award.

Sowards was named to the MSC Champions of Character Team for her service both on and off the competition floor.

In order to be nominated for the honor, the student-athlete must have achieved sophomore academic status and hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.
