Garrett earns academic honor


PIKEVILLE - A Magoffin County High School graduate was one of 10 UPIKE cheerleaders named to the Mid-South Conference's Academic All-Conference team.

UPIKE's 10 honorees was the most in the conference.

Sophomores Amanda Back, Ashley Belcher, Sara Coots, Autumn Chaney, Morgyn Dixon and MCHS graduate Kennedy Garrett; juniors Kendra Gannon and Taylor Sowards; and seniors Mia Newsome and Kynsi Pray were all named to the team. 

Both Garrett and Sowards earned the honor for the second time. Pray claimed her third academic all-conference honor. 

In order to be nominated, the student-athlete must have achieved sophomore academic status and hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.
