Sherman Arnett

Sherman Arnett age 89 went home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2018. Sherman was born February 6, 1929 in Magoffin County, Kentucky and was the son of the late Farish and Georgie Arnett.
Sherman courageously served as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving several medals and commendations for his service. Sherman retired from General Motors Corporation after 25 years of employment.
Sherman is preceded in death by his wife; Edna Francis Arnett, son; Rick Arnett Sr., two brothers; Harry and J.D. Arnett, grandson; James McKinney Jr., and great granddaughter; Kyleigh Woods.
Surviving Sherman are three daughters; Patricia (Albert Cole) Arnett of Salyersville, Kentucky, Helen Alvarez and Tina (Greg) Bowman both of La Porte, Indiana, two nephews; Tommy (Wanda) Arnett and Jeff "Frog" Arnett, three stepsons; Gene (Donna) Boner of Wittensville, Kentucky, Bobby (Nora) Beaver of Kenna, West Virginia, Jerry (Lacy) Evans of Texas, three stepdaughters; Linda (Don) Withrow of Alliance, Ohio, Ann Taylor of Tayes Valley, West Virginia, and Shirley (Richard) Mullins of Big Chimney, West Virginia. Fourteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren also survive.
Sherman was a member of the Tip Top United Baptist Church. 
Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Watkins officiating. Burial followed in the Farish Arnett Cemetery at Middle Fork, Kentucky. 
Military rites were given by the Salyersville D.A.V. Chapter 15 the day of services. 
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
