Candy Cane Lane now open for 2018 Christmas season

SALYERSVILLE – Candy Cane Lane opened to the public on Thanksgiving night and will remain open through December 25.

The Gardner family, who have been decorating what is now known as Candy Cane Lane for well over 20 years, have put up thousands of lights and displays on the small street located on the Ivy Point Hill off of West U.S. 460.

Candy Cane Lane will be open to the public from 6 to 10 p.m. every night, seven days a week, free of charge. If you're lucky, you may even see Santa Claus there, handing out candy canes to good girls and boys.

The Gardner family asks that if anyone wants to walk down the Lane to please walk in the road. With all of the electrical cords and potential hazards, they ask everyone to safely stay in the road to view the lights. The remind everyone to drive slowly and be courteous, noting that at times traffic can become a bit crowded.

They also suggest driving down Candy Cane Lane during daylight hours to see some of the decorations that are not as visible at night, explaining that there is plenty to see even without the lights.

Beginning in December, Santa will be on Candy Cane Lane whenever his schedule allows.
