Barnett tabbed First Team All-Area; Salyer, Bailey named Honorable Mention

SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County freshman guard Aden Barnett has been honored as one of the area's top boys' high school basketball players. Mountain Top Sports has named Barnett First Team All-Area.

In addition to Barnett being honored, junior guard Isaiah Salyer and senior center Randy Bailey were tabbed Honorable Mention All-Area selections. 

Barnett led the Hornets in scoring during the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season, averaging 19.2 points per game. In 30 games, Barnett scored 577 points. Barnett was among the top scorers in the 15th Region. The Magoffin County freshman shot 46.3 percent from the field. Contributing around the goal, Barnett averaged 5.2 rebounds per game in the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season.  

Following Barnett in scoring for the Hornets, Salyer averaged 14.7 points per game. Salyer scored 441 points in 30 games. 

Behind Barnett and Salyer in scoring for the Hornets during the latest boys' high school basketball season, Bailey averaged 10.8 points per game for the Hornets. Bailey led Magoffin County inside, averaging 6.5 rebounds per game. 

Following a loss to eventual 15th Region champion Martin County in the 57th District Boys' Basketball Tournament Semifinals, Magoffin County concluded the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season 15-15.
