SALYERSVILLE - Junior forward Haley Barnett emerged as a leader for Magoffin County during the 2019-20 girls' high school basketball season. Barnett led the Lady Hornets in both scoring and rebounding.

One of the area's most underrated girls' high school basketball players, Barnett averaged a team-best 10.6 points and 7 rebounds per game for the Lady Hornets. The productive Barnett scored 298 points in 28 games.

Following a loss to rival Martin County in the 57th District Girls' Basketball Tournament Semifinals, Magoffin County concluded the 2019-20 hoops season 2-26. However, Magoffin County showed improvement during its latest season.

Following Barnett in scoring for the Lady Hornets, Macy Thacker averaged 7.9 points per game. Thacker scored 222 points in 28 games.

Shay Blanton (7.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg) and Angel Mullis (5.0 ppg, 6.5 rpg) helped to pace Magoffin County throughout the 2019-20 season, which included wins over Whitley County and 15th Region counterpart Jenkins.

Magoffin County will finalize and release its schedule for the 2020-21 girls' high school basketball season at a later date.

Under the direction of head coach Justin Williams, Magoffin County will return to the floor during the offseason.

Barnett will enter the 2020-21 girls' high school basketball season among the top returning players in the 15th Region.
