Back to Football Night set for Tuesday

SALYERSVILLE - Magoffin County has announced that it will host Back to Football Night on Tuesday.

As part of the football practice kickoff event, a cookout and additional activities will be held starting at 7 p.m.

The event is for every football group - third-fourth grades through the high school level.

Following a successful stint in middle school, Chris Gamble has made the move up to the high school football. Gamble was tabbed the head coach of the Magoffin County High School football program in the spring. He replaced Justin Combs as the Hornets' head coach and has been busy preparing for the 2019 high school football season over the past few months.

Combs announced that he was resigning from his position as the Hornets' head coach in February. He accepted a teaching position at Breathitt County High School in nearby Jackson. A Breathitt County native, Combs is a new member of the Bobcats' coaching staff. He and his family currently reside in Breathitt County.

As a middle school coach, Gamble took Magoffin County youth football to a new level, contending for conference championships annually. Now, Gamble is prepared to guide the Magoffin County High School football program.

Preseason practices are mandatory for all Magoffin County football players.
