This snake, identified as a copperhead, was found and killed near a store on the Restaurant Row portion of the Mountain Parkway. While snakes are common to the area, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Game Warden Glenn Griffie told the Independent the following about what people should do if they see dangerous wildlife in town:
“If they see any wildlife in populated areas, stay away from the animal and give them distance, no matter what it is. They will eventually pass through. If the animal becomes a nuisance, then they need to contact Harley Weaver at 606-686-3642/606-483-2922 he is the private lands biologist. If they 're in immediate danger, get (if they can to a safe location) and call KSP Post 9 and will dispatch a game warden.”
