Two injured in UTV wreck
PINE RIDGE – Two were injured in a UTV accident on Pine Ridge in Magoffin County on Sunday evening.
Magoffin County Rescue Squad Captain Carter Conley said rescue crews were dispatched to Pine Ridge, roughly one mile from Kentucky Route 30 at approximately 7 p.m. on March 18.
The two people that were on the side-by-side reportedly went around a curve and lost control, rolling an estimated two times and ejecting both. Neither were wearing helmets or seatbelts.
Rescue crews decided to send both patients to a trauma center and both were flown to Pikeville Medical Center.
The two were identified as Elizabeth Gamble, of Salyersville, and Harley Weems, of Morehead. Weems had to have surgery on his arm for a laceration, and Gamble reportedly sustained a possible punctured lung, rib fractures and vertebrae fractures.
