Lady Hornets compete in Class 2A State Meet


LEXINGTON - The Magoffin County girls' cross country team competed in the Class 2A State Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday. 

The Class 2A State Meet featured runners from Magoffin County, Bardstown, Highlands, Mason County, Elizabethtown, Ashland, Scott, Franklin County, Bourbon County, North Oldham, Western Hills, John Hardin, Mercer County, Warren East, East Carter, Corbin, Casey County, Rockcastle County, Rowan County, Boyd County, Collins, Franklin-Simpson, Spencer County, Nelson County, Boyle County, Christian Academy-Louisville, Taylor County, Thomas Nelson, Lincoln County, Webster County, Paducah Tilghman, Russell, Trigg County, Henry County, LaRue County, Calloway County, Lexington Catholic, Greenup County, Butler County, Perry County Central, McCreary Central, Fort Campbell, Letcher County Central, Moore, Union County, Shelby County, Hopkins County Central and Powell County. 

Highlands sophomore Maggie Schroeder won the Girls' 5,000 Meter Run in 19:07.69.

Scott claimed the team title. 

Kaddance Gasparac, Savanna Slusher, Makenna Jordan, Stephanie Helton, Alison Cantrell and Shelia Collins represented the Magoffin County girls' cross country team in the state meet. 

Individual results for the Magoffin County girls' cross country team were as follows: 206. Kaddance Gasparac, 26:16.29; 219. Savanna Slusher, 27:16.13; 221. Makenna Jordan, 27:30.09; 229. Stephanie Helton, 29:40.38; 231. Alison Cantrell, 30:56.73; 236. Shelia Collins, 34:1860.

Cross Country State Team 2018: The Magoffin County High School Cross Country Team who are the regional runners-up competed at the KHSAA 2A State Championships on Saturday.  It was such a beautiful day as the runners had some of their best times- Kaddance Gasparac- 26:16, Savanna Slusher- 27:16, Makenna Jordan- 27:30, Stephanie Helton- 29:40, Alison Cantrell- 30:56, and Sheila Collins- 34:18.  They finished at 30th in the state and have had a most impressive season!
