HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Lady Hornets open season 0-2


SALYERSVILLE - The Magoffin County Lady Hornets opened the 2018 high school volleyball season with back-to-back losses on the road earlier in the week. 

Host Morgan County shut out the Lady Hornets 3-0 in a season opener on Monday, winning 25-15, 25-15, 25-18.

Preventing Magoffin County from entering the win column one day earlier, Prestonsburg blanked the Lady Hornets 3-0, prevailing 25-22, 25-20, 25-8.

Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Sheldon Clark for an early-season 57th District volleyball match on Monday, Aug. 20. The Lady Hornets are slated to host Lawrence County for a home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Magoffin County has additional regular-season matches scheduled versus Johnson Central, Pike County Central, Paintsville, Morgan County, Buckhorn, June Buchanan, Jackson City, Robertson County Prestonsburg, Lawrence County, Sheldon Clark and Shelby Valley.

The Lady Hornets compete in the 57th District, along with Sheldon Clark, Johnson Central and reigning 15th Region champion Paintsville. Head coach Kelsey Salyer guides the Lady Hornets.
