Hackworth sisters make history for MCHS tennis program

SALYERSVILLE - Sisters Jayden and Jenna Hackworth made history for the Magoffin County High School tennis program in May. The doubles team of sisters became the first players from Magoffin County High School to advance to the second round of the KHSAA Tennis State Tournament.

The Magoffin County duo defeated a team from Henderson County in the opening round of the KHSAA Tennis State Tournament, winning 6-2, 6-4.

The Hackworth/Hackworth entry lost to a doubles team from DuPont Manual in the second round of the KHSAA Tennis State Tournament.

The Hackworths formed one of the area's top girls' high school doubles teams during the 2018 season, establishing themselves as a tough tandem.

The Magoffin County tennis team competes in the 15th Region, which also includes  Belfry, Betsy Layne, East Ridge, Johnson Central, Lawrence County, Morgan County, Paintsville, Pike County Central, Pikeville, Prestonsburg, Shelby Valley and Sheldon Clark.

Head coach Larry David Howard guides the Magoffin County tennis program.
