Alleged theft caught on camera


SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin woman is behind bars after allegedly unlawfully entering a home on West Maple Street and taking several items.

According to the arrest citation, on Sunday, September 1, Crystal D. Bailey, 38, of Salyersville, broke into a residence on West Maple Street in Salyersville, unlawfully entered the residence, and carried items out.

The homeowner told Salyersville Police Department Detective Neil Adams the items taken were phone chargers, a jewelry box, personal grooming products, a watch and a laptop computer. When stopped by police, Bailey reportedly had some of the items reported stolen in her purse. 

Bailey told police that she was trying to let cats back into the residence, but the homeowner had security cameras, clearly showing Bailey enter the home and carry out items.

Adams reported in the arrest citation Bailey appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

Bailey was arrested and taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where she remains at press time. She is currently facing the following charges: second-degree burglary; theft by unlawful taking ($500 or more but under $10,000); and public intoxication.
