SALYERSVILLE - During the week of April 23, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes and members of her business filings and elections staff will operate a mobile field office in counties affected by the March 2 tornado outbreak. Last month Grimes, along with Maryellen Allen, Executive Director of the State Board of Elections, and Noel Caldwell, Director of Business Filings, traveled to the area to deliver donated supplies and meet with county officials and business owners. During the extended return trip, Grimes will set up a mobile field office in Morgan and Magoffin counties, which will provide on-site business services and election information.

Mrs. Jennifer Minix and Mrs. Loretta McKenzie's first grade class at South Magoffin Elementary participated in the annual Kentucky Horse Park Literacy Program. This is the third year that our school has participated in theis literacy program. We are the only school in Eastern Kentucky that have participated thus far. The 2012 reenactment of The Pimlico Special War Admiral vs. Seabiscuit was the skit this year. Students were provided the book "Seabiscuit the Wonder Horse" written by Megan McCarthy before they went to the park. Students read it to get familiar with the story.
