Doris Whitaker Marshall, age 71 a resident of Royalton, Kentucky passed away March 3, 2011 at the Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.  Doris was born September 26, 1939 in Magoffin County, the daughter of the late Orville and Jane Salyers Whitaker.  Survivors include two daughters:  Judith Collinsworth and Pauletta May both of Salyersville, Kentucky; one brother:  C.M.

Paul Edward Salyer of 360 E. 350 N., Warsaw, Indiana passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 7:35 p.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw at the age of 71.
He was born on February 18, 1940 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Wendell Salyer and Nannie (Patrick) Salyer. He was married to Darlene Kay Schipper, who preceded him in death in 1997.
Paul was a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 45 years, where he was a member of Living Hope Ministries of Warsaw, and a member of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge #73.

Donald L “Don” Wages, age 70, formerly of Kenton and recently of Rushsylvania died at Lima Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 3:35 PM.  He was born on November 10, 1940 in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Wilson Wages and Hazel (Montgomery) Wages of Rushsylvania.  Mr.

Harold Ray Collins of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the University of Louisville Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.  Harold was born November 24, 1954 in Lima, Ohio to the late Clarence Collins and the late Mary Gipson.  Surviving are three sons:  Lonnie Joe Barnes of West Liberty, Kentucky, Michael Joe Collins and Timmy Lee Collins both of Ohio; four daughters:  Mary Mae Ward and Vickie Sue Collins both of Kenton, Ohio, Sally Allen and Ethel Wallen both of Salyersville, Kentucky; four brothers:  Rondal Fletcher, Danny Fletcher,

Arnold B. Kimberlin, age 77, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away December 25, 2010 at the Paul B.

The family of Jerry Rowe, Jr., 26, the Magoffin man who has been missing since January 28, will be holding a benefit on March 12 from 12 to 5 p.m. at South Magoffin Elementary School.

Jerry Abramson, the longest serving mayor of Louisville and candidate for lieutenant governor running with Steve Beshear, visited Magoffin County Tuesday, touring the Courthouse and talking with the people “listening, learning and asking questions.”

The Centers for Disease Control released a study last month that shows Kentucky is far too inactive, with four of the five most inactive counties in the nation coming from Kentucky, alone.
