State's Best Again

STATE’S BEST AGAIN…The Magoffin County Dance Team claimed a second straight state title, winning the championship in Open Division. The competition was held February 27 at Pulaski County High School.

District III is all about supplying a helping hand

Extending a helping hand should by now be second nature to those that make up the District III Volunteer Fire Department.

All the right moves

On February 27th, the team traveled to Somerset to Pulaski County High School for the KDCO State Dance Competition (Kentucky Dance Coach Organization).

The team had outstanding performances at the competition bringing home 1st place in the Large Open division, 3rd place in the Large Pom division and 5th place in the Large Hip Hop division. The team executed their routines with perfection and confidence as they were cheered on by a host of excited fans.

County entering emergency road repair mode

Money has been moved around and haulers have been added as the Magoffin County Fiscal Court tackles the county’s road situation with extra vigor.
Reports of damaged roads have come from just about every area of the county, and help would seem to be on the way.
“Due to the freeze and thaw, snow and rain, our roads have seen quite a bit of damage,” judge-executive Charles Hardin, MD, said. “This is the worst shape the roads have been in during the nine years I have been in office.”

Royalton man arrested on drugs

A Magoffin County man was arrested Sunday night and charged with various drug offenses.
Jarrod Salyer, 25, of Royalton, was taken into custody by the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Department at his home at approximately 8:30 p.m.
According to a police report, Salyer had sold one roxicodone 30 milligram pill to a confidential informant, which led to a search of his house.
During the search sheriff’s department officials say they found several needles containing a clear liquid.
