Less than a decade ago a group of 13 men headed up by Jimmy Phillips sought ought some advice and assistance and created a fire department.

Men arrested following break-in

 

Two Magoffin County men were arrested Tuesday after a break-in of a house trailer on Lick Branch near 378 in the Far Middle Fork area.
Kendall Wireman and Willie Wireman were taken into custody by the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Department after police were notified at approximately 4 p.m. by an anonymous caller of a possible burglary in progress
According to Magoffin County Sheriff Bob Jordan, the men had forced their way into a trailer owned by Harlow Back and were removing copper wiring from the structure.

Hornets can't overcome Paintsville run, eliminated from District Tournament

Although opportunities presented themselves, Magoffin County could never completely overcome a third quarter Paintsville run and was eliminated from 57th District Tournament play Monday night.

Junior guard Cody Sparks drove toward the hoop Monday night, Sparks scored 10 points but Magoffin County lost to Paintsville in District Tournament play

Drug raids net 11 arrests

A total of 11 people were arrested Tuesday evening and night following drug raids conducted throughout the county by the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Department and the Salyersville Police Department.
