Saturday looms large for Magoffin County High School basketball as both the Hornets and Lady Hornets play host to 57th District rival Johnson Central.
The Hornets will open the double header in a 6 p.m. contest against the Golden Eagles with both teams battling to avoid the dreaded fourth and fifth seeds.
In the night’s second game, the Lady Hornets will play the Lady Eagles with a lot left to be decided regarding girls’ district tournament seedings as well.

Willie Cole, for his outstanding art work. Ben is the son of Paul and Sabrina Montgomery from Middle Fork.
Salyersville Grade School Student Reaches Top 100 on Reader Leader Board With New Reading Program Completing with over one million students in the nation Caleb Porter was in the top 100 reader’s nation wide. Caleb Porter is a third grade student at Salyersville Grade School in Mrs. Elevyn Collinsworth’s class.
A Magoffin County man was injured Wednesday in a drilling accident at Lacy just off Route 1081 near Flat Fork.
Tyler Lemaster, said by rescue officials to be in his late 20s, suffered multiple injuries after he became entangled in a drilling rig owned by Rhyno Oil Company.
