She was born November 15, 1968 in Clark County, Indiana to Louis, Sr. and Martha Tate Shuping of Charlestown, Indiana. She is also survived by her husband Ranzil Risner, one son R.J. Risner of Charlestown, Indiana, one daughter Megan Lynn Glover of Scottsburg, Indiana, two sisters Nola Mae McCaleb of Xenia, Ohio and Tina L. Shuping of Charlestown, Indiana and one brother Louis Shuping,Jr. of Charlestown, Indiana.
Lisa was a 25 year employee of the United States Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, Indiana

 Ethel May age 89 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away on February 8, 2013 at the Salyersville Health Care Center in Salyersville, Kentucky. Ethel was born June 21, 1923 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Brice and Bessie Patrick Wright. She is also preceded in death by her husband Basil May. Survivors include one daughter Glenda May McCaleb of Salyersville, Kentucky, three grandchildren Rebecca Fletcher, Darren Hensley and Mack McCaleb, also three great grandchildren Joshua Cody Fletcher, Damen Hensley and Patrick Casey Fletcher.
In addition to her parents and husband Ethel is preceded in death by one daughter Judy May Hensley Childers.
Ethel was a member of the Salyersville First Baptist Church and long time owner and operator of May's Florist in Salyersville, Kentucky.
Funeral services for Ethel Wright May were conducted at 2 pm Sunday, February 10, 2013 from the Salyersville First Baptist Church with Brother Richard Greene officiating.  Burial followed in the Bluegrass Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky.

 Frank James Howard, age 68, a resident of Bullmire Rd. in Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Kings Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
 Mr. Howard was born February 26, 1944 in Salyersville, Kentucky the son of the late Kirk and Beatrice Arnett Howard.  Also, preceding him in death are sisters, Ethel Mae Howard, Eva Gasparac, and brothers, Johnnie, Callie, Curt Blaine, Daniel, and Adam Howard.
 
Mr. Howard was a member of the Baptist Faith and devoted member to his family.
 
In his passing he leaves behind his special friend, Bertha Franklin of Salyersville, Kentucky, daughter, Emma Wireman and husband Matthew of Salyersville, Kentucky, two grandchildren, Kirklen and Lyndsey Wireman of Salyersville, Kentucky, and brothers, Jessie James, Dudley Wayne, and Woodford Howard all of Salyersville, Kentucky.  Also, preceding him in death is a host of family and friends who love and miss him.
 
Funeral services for Frank James Howard were conducted Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home.  Clergy Irvin Allen gave comforting words.  Burial followed the service in the Howard Cemetery on Bullmire Rd., in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Herman Baldridge, age 79, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Rev. Baldridge entered this life on October 2, 1933 the son of the late Thomas and Polka Rataliff Baldridge. Also, preceding  himin death is one son, Darren Devon Baldridge; siblings, Sanford Baldridge, Gracie Baldridge Wireman, Henry Baldridge, Susie Baldridge Patton, Mintha Baldridge Johnson, May Baldridge, Belue Baldridge, Betty Baldridge Emera, Thomas J. Baldridge, and Sally Baldridge.
Rev. Baldridge has been a Christian since the age of fourteen, a minister since the age of eighteen, and continued preaching until his passing. He was married January 24, 1956 to Wavel Cole Baldridge.
In his passing he leaves behind his wife, Wavel Baldridge of Salyersville, Kentucky; daughter, Petra Hausladen and husband Bob of Louisville, Kentucky, granddaughter, Bella Hausladen of Louisville, Kentucky, and two sisters, Maude Warix and Florence Smith. Also, surviving is a host of family and friends who love and miss him.

 Age 88, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 19, 1925 in Salyersville, Kentucky, the daughter of Kern and Willie (Bailey) Patrick. On July 19, 1941 she married Charles William Stephens and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1996. Verglinda had lived in the area since 1946, coming from Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Chelsea. She enjoyed quilting, reading, canning, and spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are three daughters: Glinda Katheryn (Charles) Kocsis of Texas, Janice (Robert) Taylor of Chelsea, and Joyce Policht of Chelsea; one step-son, Danny Hoppe of Saline; seven grandchildren: James Policht, Scott Policht, Stephen Dault, Sheryl Lancaster, Susan Rodriguez, Stacie (Roger) Manning, and Elizabeth (Jamie) Curran; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Cassie Allen of Prestonsburg; her sister-in-law, Nola Stumbo of Prestonsburg; and several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Ira Carpenter (Dick) Bailey and Nancy Fletcher Bailey; paternal grandparents, Huston Patrick and Rebecca Patton Patrick; two infant great-grandchildren, Jack and Curran, and one great-granddaughter, Kayanna Jeanes; her siblings: Edgar Patrick, Norvell Patrick, Alta Patton, Lucy McElone, Virgie Harrety, Edith Smith, an infant brother, and an infant sister; a son-in-law, Brian Policht; and her second husband, Douglas Clifford Hoppe. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Pastor Adam Summers and Pastor Jack Story co-officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea.  J.B. Arnett, 76 of North Judson, Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 31st at his home.  He was born April 26, 1936, in Salyersville, Kentucky, to the late Den and Lena Patrick Arnett.  On July 26, 1958, he married Kathleen Collins in Winamac, Indiana.  J.B. had been a Blast Furnace Operator.   He is survived by his wife Kathleen, two daughters:  Kathy (Howard) Connelley of Salyersville, Kentucky and Sandy (Steve) Craig of Winamac, Indiana; two sons:  Ricky (Letha) Arnett of North Judson, Indiana; and Marvin (Lois) Arnett of Salyersville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren, three step grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four sisters:  Irene Coldiron of Winamac, Indiana, Lola Grott of LaPorte, Indiana, Shirley (Don) Eichelberg of Knox, Indiana, and Sharon (Clarence) Pennington of Frenchburg, Kentucky; two brothers:  Luke (Sally) Arnett of North Judson, Indiana and Dennis (Ronnie) Arnett of LaPorte, Indiana.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Arnett and two brothers:  Cletus Arnett and Franklin D Arnett.  Services were held on Monday, February 4th at the O’Donnell Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Conley from Teaberry Hill Church, officiating.  Burial followed in St. Jacob Cemetery in North Judson.  Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc., North Judson, Indiana.

Ruie is survived by four step sons; Johnny Ray (Wilma) Cole of Salyersville, Ky., Billy Joe (Anna) Cole of Sitka, Ky., Bobby Dean (Lois) Cole of Somerset, Ky., Jimmy Dean (Janet) Cole of Jeffersonville, Ky, five step daughters; Betty Marie Kendrick of Paintsville, Ky., Donna Ann (Bill) Stone of Lowmansville, Ky., Brenda Leigh (Leo) Hamilton of Elkhorn City, Ky., Teresa Ann (Ernest) Thompson of Lowmansville, Ky., Lisa Fay (Billy) Ramey of Staffordsville, Ky, one brother; Frank Whitaker of Salyersville, Ky, and one sister; Lisa Jane Allen of Salyersville, Ky. She is also survived by several step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Ruie is preceded in death by her husband; Arthur Cole, her son; Joe David Marshall, two brothers; Luther Green Whitaker and Walter Whitaker, and one sister; Zonia Bell Risner.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1 PM at the Church of God's Grace with Bobby Cole and Herman Roberts officiating, burial will follow in the Cain Cemetery at Salyersville, Ky.

Earl is survived by one sister; Lois Kimbleton of Marion, Ohio, one special niece; Rebecca Fay Penix, also surviving are several more nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Earl is preceded in death by three brothers; Merle Howard, Alec Howard, and Milt Howard, four sisters; Verg Howard, Bess Fox, Zola Howard, and Jose Howard.

Kathleen is survived by her husband; Charles Gipson of Salyersville, Ky, two sons; Timothy L. Sparks of Salyersville, Ky, and Ronnie Lee (Sabrina) Gipson of Salyersville, Ky, one daughter; Renea (Mark) Trusty of Salyersville, Ky, two brothers; Ronnie Gipson of Midway, Ky and Charles Chuck Gipson of Michigan, five sisters; Virginia Rose Perkins of Salyersville, Ky, Mary Sue Fletcher of Salyersville, Ky, Carol Jean Emmons of Stockbridge, Michigan, Ruby Bailey of Stockbridge, Michigan and Mildred Sparks of West Liberty, Ky. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by two sons; Isom Michael Sparks, Edward Ellis Sparks, one step-son; Charles JR. Gipson, deceased brothers include; Jimmy Gipson, Roger Gipson, Liggie Gipson, Kenneth Gipson and several other deceased brothers and sisters. One grandchild also precedes her in death.

 Jean Moore Prather, 92 , died at home on January 21, 2013.  Marie Jeanette (Jean) Moore Prather was born April 27, 1920, in Dunbar, West Virginia, the daughter of Albert K. Moore and Anna Cooper Moore.
 
She was predeceased by her husband, John G. Prather, Sr., and by her younger son, Jerome Prather.  She is survived by her son, John G. Prather, Jr. and daughter-in-law Hilma Skonberg Prather; by daughter-in-law Joelyn Herndon Prather; by grandsons Jerome (Jay) Park Prather, Joel Moore Prather, and John Hunt Prather (and wife Mandy), by granddaughter Anna Russell Prather, and a host of cousins and friends.
 
 
She grew up in Salyersville, Kentucky, where her father was the editor and publisher of the Salyersville Independent. After graduating as class valedictorian of Magoffin Baptist Institute, she graduated from Transylvania University in 1940. While at Transylvania, she served as president of Phi Mu Sorority.
 
 
She taught commerce at Somerset High School for two years, at Mt. Sterling High School for one year, and then, during World War II, entered the United States Navy as a WAVE and was commissioned as an officer.  She served in Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Cedar Falls, Washington, D.C., and Oakland until being discharged as a Lieutenant junior grade.  She and her husband John returned to Kentucky where she made her home until her passing.
 
 
She was extremely active in her community. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years; served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years; and was a staunch supporter of the Boy Scouts.  She served as PTA president assisting in obtaining approval of the bond issue to build Hopkins Elementary School.  She served as Chair of the Advisory Board of Somerset Community College; Chair of the Pulaski County Library Board during the period of relocation to the old Pulaski County Post Office Building; and was a founding member and president of the Somerset Garden Club. She was a member of the State Board of Democratic Women’s Club of Kentucky; a member of the Kentucky Heritage Commission; and a member of the Transylvania University Alumni Association Board of Directors.  Jean also served as the Chair of the Hospice Board of Directors when the hospice program was initiated in Pulaski County.
 
 
She was the “office manager” for the Law offices of John G. Prather for 18 years.
 
 
The family of Mrs. Jean Moore Prather will receive friends at the First Christian Church from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013.
 
 
Funeral services will be held at the Somerset First Christian Church at 11:00 a.m.  Friday, January 25, 2013, with Rev. Doug Couch, Bill Adcock and David Pendley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.
 
 
Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Price is survived by his wife; Vickie Hatton Wisecup, one daughter; Mary Jane Wisecup Williamson, one brother; Paul B. Wisecup, four sisters; Ressie Arnett, Mary Barnett, Susie Campbell and Maudie Tackett all of Salyersville, Kentucky. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Mason Dakota Williamson, Lindsey Grace Williamson, and Aileen RayAnn Williamson.
 
In addition to his parents Price is preceded in death by one brother; Russell Wisecup.

James is also survived by his husband of 16 years; Marcus Dobbs, one daughter; Casey Morgan, his mother and step-father; Audrey and Donnie Hamilton, his brother and sister-in-law Justin and Samantha Hamilton, brother and sister-in-law; Ronnie and Nadia Hamilton. Also surviving are a host of family and dear friends.

 Glen Edison Conley, age 75, a resident of State Road in Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Conley was born October 31, 1937, in Conley, Kentucky, the son of the late Otis and Necie Whitt Conley. Also, preceding him in death are sisters, Wilma Colvin, Darlene Conley, Debra Conley, and brothers, Alvin Conley, Buford Conley.
 
Mr. Conley was one of the former owners of Prater & Dunn Funeral Home, retired from the Salyersville Funeral Home, and served as Magoffin County Coroner for two terms. He served his country in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. Mr. Conley was a member of the Salyersville Kiwanis Club, Salyersville Masonic Lodge #769 F&AM, and Magoffin County Chapter 15 DAV.
 
Those left to mourn includes wife, Jolene Conley of Salyersville, Kentucky, daughter, Cassaundra "Shawn" Stacy and husband Greg of Frankfort, Kentucky, grandson, Benjamin Stacy of Frankfort, Kentucky, sisters, Zelma Wheeler of Salyersville, Kentucky, Judy Borders of Talladega, Ohio, Pamela Conley of Salyersville, Kentucky, and brother, James Conley of London, Ohio. Also, surviving are a host of family and friends.
 
Funeral services for Glen Edison Conley were conducted Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 11:00 AM from the Salyersville First Baptist Church in Salyersville, Kentucky. Clergy Michael Hornback and Floyd Arnett delivered comforting words on the day of the service. Burial followed the service at Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville, Kentucky. Masonic Rites were conducted Monday at 7:00 PM from the Chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home.  Elmer Bryan Arnett died on January 11, 2013 at Central Baptist Hospital following a stroke.  He was born on October 29, 1927, the son of Will Tom and Della Fletcher Arnett.  He was united in marriage to Faye Arnett on April 1, 1950, and leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Drs. Debra and Robert Brashear and Winnie and Daniel Gardner, and four grandsons, Byron Gardner and his fiancé Kimi Comiskey, Stuart Gardner, Austin Brashear and Matt Brashear.  Preceding Elmer in death were his brothers, Woodrow, Glenn and Raymond and infant sisters.  Elmer grew up in Magoffin County, served in the Occupation Army in Germany and graduated from Morehead State University with a BA in 1955, and an MA in Guidance Counseling in 1960.  He worked as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Magoffin County Schools, served as Salyersville postmaster for 26 years and continued to work in business.  He demonstrated a key interest in civic activities throughout his life and chaired both the Magoffin County Development Council and Magoffin County Health Department for many years and recruited several of Magoffin County’s longest serving health professionals.  Elmer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salyersville.  
Elmer was a loving husband, a wonderful companion, a generous provider and the eternal sweetheart of his loving wife Faye.  He was model husband and father, exhibiting love, honor and respect for his wife and unlimited faith in his daughters’ endeavors and pride in their accomplishments.  E.B. was born to be a grandfather:  His four grandsons were the light of his life and he continually talked about “Gramps’ Boys” with pride, displaying the great joy they brought him.  By nature, a humble man, he possessed a brilliant mind, was a great problem-solver and a prolific reader, and there was nothing that did not capture his interest.  Elmer read dozens of books, magazines and newspapers each month, knew everything that was happening in politics, sports, the economy, automotive improvements and new technologies, and had a special passion for the UK Wildcats.  He also had a wry sense of humor which served him well on all occasions.  Most of all Elmer was a true gentleman:  His manners were impeccable, and he was a friend to all regardless of age, education, race, religion or wealth.  Elmer was a wonderful neighbor, a fair and generous employer and his concern for his fellow humans made him a legend among his loving family and friends.  
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, Salyersville with burial following at Highlands Memorial Park, Staffordsville, KY.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Magoffin County Public Library, 141 Church Street, Salyersville, KY 41465 or the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O Box 616, Salyersville, KY  41465.

 Elmer Arnett age 85 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Elmer was born October 29, 1927 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late W.T. and Della Fletcher Arnett. He is survived by his wife Faye Arnett, two daughters Dr. Debra Arnett (Robert) Brashear of Columbia, Kentucky and Winnie Arnett (Daniel) Gardner of Salyersville, Kentucky, four grandchildren Byron Gardner, Stuart Gardner, Austin Brashear and Matt Brashear.
In addition to his parents Elmer is preceded in death by three brothers Raymond Arnett, Woodrow Arnett and Glen Arnett and one sister Lena Arnett.
 
Funeral services for Elmer Arnett were conducted at 2 pm Sunday, January 13, 2013 from the First Baptist Church of Salyersville, Kentucky with Rev. Michael Hornback officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Kentucky.

 James C. "Bear" Howard age 68 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. He was born February 24, 1944 to the late dud and Ruby Mann Howard.
James is survived by his wife; Linda Montgomery Howard, one son; James Anthony Howard of Salyersville, Kentucky, two daughters; Debbie Helton and Deanna Casebolt both of Salyersville, Kentucky, one brother; Franklin D. Howard of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and one sister; Zettie Alice Blanton of Salyersville, Kentucky. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
 
In addition to his parents James is preceded in death by two sisters; Rowana Howard and Juanita Howard.
 
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 14, 2013 at 1 PM from the Magoffin County Funeral Home chapel with Justin Williams officiating, burial followed in the Howard Family Cemetery at Coon Creek, Kentucky.

 Deborah Spurlock Almberg, 64, a resident of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Deborah was born May 13, 1948, in Magoffin County, Ky. to the late Everett and Gladys Reed Spurlock. She was retired from Bloom-Vernon Local School District as a Special Education teacher.
Survivors include her husband Robert Almberg, a sister Ruie Spurlock, a step son Mike Almberg, step daughters Debbie Thomas and Diane (Larry) McCrain and many special nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and her little beloved dog Belle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Larry Bennington, sisters Sue and Peggy and a brother Gary.
Funeral Services were held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Merit Smith officiating with burial at Memorial Burial Park.

 Donnie Allen age 49 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. He was born April 9, 1963 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Morgan and Hazel Fern Ingram Bradley.
Donnie is survived by two sons; Tyler Allen and Robert Allen of Salyersville, Kentucky, four brothers; Bruce Allen of Indiana, Lonzo Allen of Indiana, Hobert Rife of Grayson, Kentucky. and Henry Allen of Salyersville, Kentucky, five sisters; Mary Brakebill of Indiana, Janie Mulkey of Salyersville, Kentucky, Ora Mae Wolfe of Indiana and Olene Holliday of Ringgold, Georgia. Also surviving is one grandchild; Noah Lane Allen.
 
In addition to his parents Donnie is preceded in death by one brother; Morgan Allen, Jr. and one sister; Linda Sue Wenrick.
 
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11 AM from the Magoffin County Funeral Home chapel with Bethel Bolen and Irvin Allen, Jr. officiating, burial followed in the Allen Cemetery at Fredville, Kentucky.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
