Valma Reed Gillespie, age 83, of Felicity, OH passed from this life on January 27, 2010, at the Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, OH.
Valma was married to James Thomas Gillespie who preceded her in death.
She was the daughter of the late Orlando and Ina May Reed of Salyersville, KY. One brother, Melvin Reed of Salyersville also preceded her in death.
Her survivors include: five children, Elaine (Paul) Parrish, Eric Gillespie, Dwight (Patrice) Gillespie, Lynn (Bill) Fee, Alex (Lori) Gillespie. Ten grandchildren: Jared, Aaron, Nicole, Adam, Marla, Matt, Rob, Amber Travis and Katie. Eight great grandchildren: Audrey, Kasdence, Alyssia, Regan, Brianna, Abby, Delaney and Hannah.
Also surviving are three brothers: Lucien Reed of Grayson, KY, Orlando (Lucille) Reed, Jr., of Winchester, KY and Ray Reed of Louisville, KY. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Valma was a dedicated member of the Felicity Christian Church. She was a caring and loving person and loved by all in the community.
Funeral Services was held at the Felicity Christian Church on Saturday, January 30, 2010. Burial followed at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Milford, Ohio

Survivors include his parents, Solen and Janice Howard; his wife, Dottie Jean Hampton Howard; two daughters, Robin Michelle (Tracy) Hall and Paula Marie (James) Joseph, both of Salyersville, KY; three brothers, Thomas Lee (Diane) Howard, Jimmy Darrell (Wanda) Howard and Norman Allen (Pam) Howard, all of Salyersville, KY; two sisters, Donna Faye Koontz and Dorothy Jean Salyer, both of Salyersville, KY; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Danny was preceded in death by on brother, Johnny Ray Howard.
Funeral Services will be conducted January 29, 2010 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home with Carl Howard and Lindsey Meade officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery at Mine Fork, KY.

In addition to her parents; her husband, Woodrow Howard; four brothers, Frank Howard, Ernest Howard, Hager Howard and Herman Howard; three sisters, Ada Blanton, Carrie Howard and Ruie Hensley preceded Panzie in death.
Funeral Services were conducted January 17, 2010 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Brown, Rick Howard and Louie Howard officiating. Burial followed in the Moses Howard Cemetery at Coon Creek, KY.

Clarence Edward “Jake” Shepherd, age 57 of Hueysville, KY passed away Monday January 11, 2010 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, KY. Edward was born September 14, 1952 at Gunlock in Magoffin County, KY to Grace Whitaker Shepherd Wireman who survives and the late Clarence Shepherd.
He is also survived by his wife Glenna Kay Hale Shepherd; two daughters Jennifer Hale of Whitesburg, KY and Tiffany Jo Shepherd of Hueysville, KY; two brothers Carl Shepherd and his wife Della of Hueysville, KY and Larry Kenneth   Shepherd and his wife Renee of Salyersville, KY; four sisters Dorothy Wireman and her husband Bill of Gunlock, KY, Phyllis Holliday of Lexington, KY, Ina Mae Risner and her husband Aaron and Jewell Wireman both of Royalton, KY. Besides his father, two brothers, Hurshell Shepherd and Don Shepherd, preceded Edward in death.
Edward was a heavy equipment operator for the coal industry and a member of the Garrett Regular Baptist Church.

Max L. Arnett was born in Lakeville, KY on January 23, 1934 to deceased parents, Webster and Beulah Arnett. He passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the age of 75. He was a resident of Hoover, Alabama for the past four years. He was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Chrysler Corp. in Dayton, Ohio after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jan Arnett; a son, Greg (Sheila) Arnett; four grandchildren, Breanne Woodham, Evan Provost, Tessa Clark, and Kelsey Matthews; two great grandchildren, J.D. Woodham and Josie Provost; a sister, Jeanette Hawkins; nephew Jeff Hawkins; a host of cousins and other loving family members. The family received friends on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, where funeral services were held with Rev. Chris Sullivan officiating. Interment was in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.

Funeral Services will be conducted (Today) December 17, 2009 from the Salyersville First Baptist Church with Wayne Meade JR and Matthew Gullion officiating. Burial will follow in the Rice Family Cemetery on Burning Fork, KY.
These arrangements were in care of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
