HOWARD, Billie Irene Conley, age 85 of Covington, OH. died suddenly, Sun. April 11, 2010. She was born in Paintsville, KY. on Mar. 30, 1925 to Arthur and Alice (Long) Pennington. Billie was a warm and compassionate caretaker who opened her home to everyone. She had worked for McCall Corp. for many years. She is survived by her husband, George Howard, 2 sons, Eddie (Ramona) Conley, Ludlow Falls, OH., Danny (Tammy) Conley, W. Milton, OH., a daughter Betty (Rob) Gessner, Miamisburg, OH.,     3   grandsons: Cody, Jackson and Chace Conley, 6 step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren., 5 brothers, Jack Pennington, Oil Springs, KY., Doug Pennington, New Lebanon, OH., Joe Pennington, Dayton, OH. , Tommy Pennington, Salyersville, KY, Keith Pennington, Oil Springs, KY., 3 sisters, Betty Louise LeMaster, Cambridge, OH., Bobbie Sue (Jeff) Conley, Springfield, OH. and Mary Effie (Bennie) Tackett, Xenia, OH., long time family friend, Robert C. Conley, Englewood, OH. 3 stepsisters, Kay Schultz, , Faye Price, Janet Stapleton,        and 3 stepdaughters, Roxanna (James) Woodruff, Terri (Richard) Woods, Georgetta (Lonnie) Ross, and step daughter-in-law, Valerie Howard, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Paul Pennington and stepson, Fred Howard. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M Thurs.at United Methodist Church in Gratis, OH. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Gratis, OH. Friends may call at the Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home on Wed. Ray was born April 8, 1924 in Magoffin Co. KY, the son of the late Kash and Nevesta Arnett Holbrook.
Survivors include his wife, Meridith Howard Holbrook; one daughter Sherry (Stanley) Abercrombie of Plant City, FL; two brothers, B.F. Holbrook and Harry T. Holbrook both of Salyersville, KY; two sisters, Kashetta Caudill of Salyersville, KY and Katherine Dale of Lima, OH; two grandchildren, Bridgette Cartrette Torres and Jimmy Cartrette.
In addition to his parents, one son, Charles Ray Holbrook and one brother, Roy Holbrook preceded Ray in death.
Funeral Services were conducted April 14, 2010 from the Salyersville First Baptist Church with Matthew Gullion officiating. Burial followed in the Holbrook Cemetery on Gardner Branch.

Hager Slone, age 78 passed away April 7, 2010. Hager was born April 28, 1931 in Magoffin County, KY, the son of the late Monroe and Flora Slone.
Survivors include three brothers, Tollie (Ruth Ann) Slone, James (Kathryn) Slone and Lenzie Slone; various nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, three sisters, Mary, Esta and Ann; two brothers, Monroe and Marvin preceded Hager in death.
Visitation was held April 10, 2010 at the OR Woodyard Co. Northwest Chapel in Columbus, OH and then again held at the Salyersville Funeral Home.
Funeral services were conducted at the Flat Fork Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Ralph VanHoose officiating. Burial followed in the Slone-Howard Family Cemetery where an Honor Guard was present.

Roosevelt was born January 24, 1942 in Salyersville, KY, the son of the late Lloyd and Dorie (Risner) Risner.
Survivors include five brothers, Odell Risner, Lacey Risner, Codell Risner, Lloyd Junior Risner and Ray Risner, all of Salyersville, KY; three sisters, Tressie Brown and Mary Roark, both of Salyersville, KY and Ressie Roark of Hazel Green, KY.
In addition to his parents, two brothers, Elwood and Johnnie Risner preceded Roosevelt in death.
Funeral Services were conducted April 9, 2010 from the Salyersville Funeral Home with Clergy Johnnie Reed officiating. Burial followed in the Risner Cemetery on Cow Creek in Salyersville, KY.

Perkins, Greenville B., age 88 of Dayton passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. Born in Salyersville, KY March 28, 1921 to the late Ova (Litteral) Perkins and Frank Perkins. Greenville was preceded in death by his wife, Faye in 1995; sisters Edna Stanley, Sina Powers, Alemeda Poe; and brother Floyd G. Perkins. He is survived by his son Darrell R. Perkins of Dayton; sisters Rosie Connelley, Jewell Perkins, both of Salyersville, KY, Ellen (Robert) Evans of Xenia, Lovilla (Sherrill) Coyle of Huber Heights; brother Granville (Arlene) Perkins of Tipp City; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Greenville retired from Delco Products in 1988. He was an avid sportsman, and was a member of the Greene County Fish and Game Association. He was a WWII Army veteran and received the Purple Heart, and was also a member of the American Legion Post in Kentucky. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and was a member of the disabled American Veterans Association. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 20, 2010 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. with pastor Wiley B. Perkins and Jody Mutter co-officiating. Burial to follow David’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening from 5-8 pm.
