Terry Lee Norman, a resident of Franklin Ohio passed away January 19, 2011 at his home.  R Norman was born December 31, 1962 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Julian and Jolaspie Keeton Norman.  Mr. Norman was employed as a laborer in the automotive industry until his retirement.  In his passing he leaves behind:  Uncle, Joe Keeton and wife Buretta of Salyersville, Kentucky.  Also surviving is a host of family and friends who love and miss him.  Funeral services for Terry Lee Norman were held Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Salyersville Funeral Home.  Comforting words were given by clergy, Tim Watkins.  Burial followed in the Beecher McCarty cemetery in Salyersville.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home.

Rillavae Banks Risner, age 83, a resident of Old Burning Fork Road in Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Salyersville Health Care Center in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Mrs. Risner was born October 2, 1927 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Etta Collins Banks.  Also, preceding her in death is her husband, Kelly Risner; son:  Daniel Risner; sisters:  Lucky Montgomery and Ruth Dyer; and brothers:  Bernard, Bert, Elmo, Clifton and Clayton Banks.  Mrs. Risner was employed as a commercial business owner until her retirement.  In her passing she leaves behind:  son:  Keith Risner of Salyersville, Kentucky; Daughter:  Pam (Larry) Carpenter of Salyersville, Kentucky; sister:  Elsie Boggs of Whitesburg, Kentucky.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of family and friends who love and miss her.  Funeral services for Rillavae Banks Risner will be conducted Friday, January 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the Salyersville Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Bluegrass Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky.  The family will welcome friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM and any time prior to the funeral services.  The arrangements are under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home.

Bobby Joe Nickles, age 43 of Royalton, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Central Baptist Hospital I Lexington, Kentucky.  Bobby was born September 26, 1967 in Magoffin County, as son of the late Hobert Nickles and Annalean Moore Nickles.  He was united in marriage to Valerie Prater Nickles who survives.  Bobby is also survived by his mother:  Annalean Moore Nickles; one stepson:  Billy Jack Lewis of Miami, Ohio; one stepdaughter:  April Lynn Combs of Miami, Ohio; two brothers:  Roy Lee Nickles and Roger Lee Nickles both of Royalton, Kentucky; five sisters:  Peggy Wireman, Joy Lynn Brown and Edna Miller all of Royalton, Kentucky, Goldie Rowe of Trace, Kentucky and Mary Allen of Richmond, Indiana.  In addition to his father, Bobby was preceded in death by one sister:  Gracie Lea Gipson.  Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 21, 2011 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Watkins officiating.  Burial followed at the Gipson Family Cemetery at Mason Creek, Kentucky.  Arrangements were under the care of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.

Burl Cole, age 73, a resident of Burning Fork Road in Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Monday,  January  17, 2011 at his home.  Mr. Cole was born July 12, 1937 in Tip Top, Kentucky, the son of the late Silas and Maggie King Cole.  Also preceding him in death is a grandchild, Tomi Lahiana Howard; brothers:  Harold Cole, Philip Cole, Garland Cole, Paul Cole; and sisters:  Mabel McDaniel, Brenda Montgomery, May Cole and June Cole.  Mr. Cole served his country in the US Army in Vietnam until he was honorably discharged.  He was a member of the VFW American Legion and the Salyersville Freewill Baptist church.  In his passing he leaves behind:  wife:  Geraldine “Gerry” Rickard Cole of Salyersville, Kentucky; sons:  Harold James (Denise) Cole, Chester Travis (Malinda) Cole, all of Salyersville, Kentucky; daughters:  Dianah Rose (Scott) Smith of Morehead, Kentucky, Debra Howard, Donna Lynn (Eddie Allen) Ratliff of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky  and Dorothy (Rondell) May of Salyersville, Kentucky; sisters:  Judy Farris, Fannie Farris and Wanda Salyer, of Salyersville, Kentucky and Shirrell Little of Jackson, Kentucky; brothers:  Hurlis Cole, Silas Cole, Jr., of Salyersville, Kentucky and Gerald Cole of Breathitt County, Kentucky.  Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends who love and miss him.  Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Salyersville Funeral Home, with Floyd Arnett officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cole Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky. The family will welcome friends Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM Wednesday and any time prior to the funeral services.  Military Rites will be given by the Magoffin County Chapter #15 DAV on the day of the service.  In lieu of flowers the family has asked to make donations to the Burl Cole Memorial Fund.  Arrangements  are under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home.

Arlie Williams, age 84 a resident of Rockhouse Road in Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Paul B Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky.  Mr Williams was born February 16, 1926 in Salyersville, Kentucky, the son of the late George Washington and Ellen Howard Williams.  Also, preceding him in death is one son:  Wendell Williams; sisters:  Peachy Williams, Zula Wright and Lula Wright; brothers:  Bill, Eldon, Elmer and Charlie Williams and great-grandson:  Billy Arlie Williams.  Mr Williams was a farmer until his retirement.  In his passing he leaves behind, wife:  Gustie Howard Williams; daughters:  Linda Collins and Glinda Howard of Salyersville, Kentucky and Connie Howard of Hager Hill, Kentucky; brothers:  Edgar Williams of Dayton, Ohio and Virgil Williams of Fairborn, Ohio.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends who love and miss him.  Funeral services for Arlie Williams were conducted January 15, 2011 from the Salyersville Funeral Home.  Burial followed in the Williams Family Cemetery on Rockhouse Road in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home.

Kathleen McKenzie Brown, age 74 of Sherwood, Michigan formerly of Magoffin County, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the Sturgis Hospital in Sturgis, Michigan.  Kathleen was born December 23, 1936 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Bill and Mae McCarty McKenzie.  Kathleen is also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Brown.  Survivors include six sons:  Ray Brown of West Liberty, Kentucky, Owen Brown of Salyersville, Kentucky, Lennie and Alden Brown of Arkansas, Curtis Brown of Michigan and Dewayne Brown of Indiana; three daughters:  Linda Crisp of Paintsville, Kentucky, Karen Rodesiler and Mary Evelyn Brown of Sherwood, Michigan; three brothers:  Austin McKenzie of Carlisle, Kentucky, Bill McKenzie of Indiana and Edmond McKenzie of Cynthiana, Kentucky;  One sister:  Francis Mundy of Carey, Ohio; 31 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one son:  Arron Brown; one daughter:  Brenda Gibson; 8 brothers:  Frank, Clifford, Lonzie, Joe, Earl, Roosevelt, Nelson and Elmer; and 5 sisters:  Shirley Cole, Pearlie Williams, Imogene McKenzie, Ruth Ann McKenzie and Annie McCarty.  Funeral services were conducted January 16, 2011 from the Magoffin County Funeral home with Brian Bailey officiating.  Burial followed in the Cain Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Arrangements were in care of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.

Della Mae Gose Arnett, age 91 of Salyersville, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011 at her home.  Della was born March 13, 1919 in Magoffin County, the daughter of the late Harris and Elizabeth Patrick Gose.  She was united n marriage to Warnie Branch Arnett who precedes her in death.  Della is survived by two sons:  Jackie Lee Arnett of Okochobee, Florida and Terry Lee Arnett of Salyersville, Kentucky; three daughters:  Anna Jo Salyer, Jacqueline Bailey and Kay Elizabeth Isaac all of Salyersville, Kentucky.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents, Della is preceded n death by one daughter:  Kay Arnett; two brothers:  Bill Gose and Johnny Gose; two sisters:  Easter Perry and Maudine Gose; one grandchild:  Darren Matthew Isaac and one great-grandchild.  Funeral services were conducted January 11, 2011 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Patrick, Dallas Patrick and Eugene Haney officiating.  Burial followed in the Gose Cemetery at Middle Fork.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.

Corbett Howard, age 92 of Coon Creek Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away January 5, 2011 at the Salyersville Health Care Center in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Corbett was born October 26, 1918 in Magoffin County, the son of the late Lee and Plina Howard.  He was united in marriage to Mae Howard who survives.  In addition to his wife, Corbett is survived by two sons:  Robert Lee (Sue) Howard of West Liberty, Kentucky and Kenny Dean Howard of Salyersville, Kentucky; five daughters:  Barbara Kaye (Grant) Cantrell, Meredith Gaye Holbrook and  Della Lynn ( Bobby) Howard all of Salyersville, Kentucky, Evella Faye Howard of Paintsville, Kentucky and Percilla Howard of Lexington, Kentucky.  Corbett is also survived by eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents Corbett is preceded in death by two brothers:  Sylvester Howard and Earl Howard and six sisters:  Gracie Risner, Thelma Hensley, Gladys Howard, Mable Howard, Wonnie Howard and Dorie Howard.  Also, one daughter-in-law:  Lisa Howard and one son-in-law:  Ray Holbrook.  Funeral services were held January 8, 2011 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Talmadge Mann and Paul Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rock Lick Cemetery at Coon Creek, Kentucky.  Arrangements were in care of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.

Hargus Howard, age 90, of Silver Lake, Indiana most recently of Florida, passed away January 5, 2011 at the Hendry County Medical Center in Clearwater Florida.  Mr. Howard was born October 8, 1920, in Salyersville, Kentucky, the son of the late Kendile and Mary Allen Howard.  He was united in marriage to Hattie England on September 1, 1942 and she survives.  Also surviving are one son: Ralph (Cindy) Howard of Warsaw, Indiana; three daughters:  Carolyn (Steve) Lister and Mary Trout of Sebring, Florida and Bonnie Lou (Jim) Mettler of Brandon, Flordia.  He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.  Mr. Howard was preceded in death by one son:  Woodrow Howard, seven brothers and two sisters. Mr. Howard was a machinist for Gripco and a farmer.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 11, 2001 at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, Indiana with clergy Frank Whitaker officiating.  Burial followed at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton, Indiana.  Memorials may be made to K-21 Foundation-Cancer Care Fund, PO Box 1810, Warsaw Indiana 46581-1810.  Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw Indiana were in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Carolyn Sue Arnett, age 63, of Allen Drive, Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at her home.  Carolyn was born September 20, 1947 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Dewey and Beatrice Lykins Arnett.  Carolyn is survived by three sons:  Davey (Pamela) Conley of Temple, Texas, Dewey James Conley of Springfield, Ohio and Donald Edward (Tonya) Lovely of Salyersville, Kentucky;   one brother:  Larry (Alma) Arnett of Salyersville, Kentucky; and three sisters:  Phyllis (James) Carty and Mary (Larry) Carty of Salyersville, Kentucky and Patricia (Fred) Lykins of West Liberty, Kentucky.  Carolyn is also survived by six grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by one brother:  Garry Lee Arnett.  Funeral services were held January 8, 2011 from the Licking Valley United Baptist Church at Ben Branch on Pricey Creek with Kermit Gamble, Gary Bowling and Hearl Howard officiating.  Burial followed at the Lovely-Arnett Cemetery on the Carpenter Ridge.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.

Hazel Mae Auxier Long, age 85, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Paul B Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky.  Mrs. Long was born February 7, 1925 in Guage, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Elizabeth Holbrook Auxier.  Also preceding her in death is her husband:  Warren Milton Long; son: Larry David Pitts; sisters:  Ruby Patton, Lavista Auxier, Betty Lou Coyle, Rushie Louise Risner and brothers: Ernest Auxier, Herbert Red Auxier and Puff William Auxier.  Mrs. Long was a devoted member of her family and enjoyed spending every moment she could with them.  In her passing she leaves behind, daughters:  Clara J. Ashcraft and Judy Snyder of Salyersville, Kentucky, Mary Lou McBride of Kansas, Martha Jean Stanley of Houston, Texas, Carolyn Sue Benson of New York, Eva Lee Collier of Paris, Kentucky and Connie Howard of Paintsville, Kentucky; sons:  Alfred Dewey Pitts and Randall Long of Knox, Indiana, Arnold Ray Long of Houston, Texas, Terry W. Margaret June Potts Mortimer, age 73, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at her home.  Mrs. Mortimer was born October 27, 1937 in Sisterville, West Virginia the daughter of the late Ralph and Esta Bennett Potts.   Also preceding her in death is her grandson, Austin Adams and brother, Michael B. Potts.  Mrs. Mortimer was employed as a real estate agent until her retirement.  She was a member of the Homemakers Club and former Vice President of the Women’s Club.  In her passing she leaves behind:  Husband: James Mortimer III of Salyersville, Kentucky; daughter: Susan Mortimer Adams Waits of Salyersville, Kentucky; sons: Jeffrey (Shannon) Mortimer of Pikeville, Kentucky, James Christopher (Rebecca) Mortimer of Salyersville, Kentucky; sisters:  Vernice Hunt, Joanne Kay and Eleanor Witchey of New Martinsville, West Virginia and Nancy Sue Gotz of Lexington, Kentucky.  Also surviving are five grandchildren and a host of family and friends who love and miss her.  Funeral services were held January 7, 2011 from the Salyersville Funeral Home with clergy Jimmy Hughes officiating.  Burial followed in the Bluegrass Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home.

Evenell Howard Johnson, age 75, of Old Lick Creek Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Paul B Hall Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky.  Evenell was born March 24, 1935 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Herbert and Monnie Rigsby Howard.  Evenell is survived by one son: Wayne (Nola) Johnson of Salyersville, Kentucky; two daughters Anita Collinsworth and Janice ( Veldon) McCarty of Salyersville, Kentucky, one sister:  Eula Mae Ward of Salyersville, Kentucky, three grandchildren:  Holly Elizabeth Johnson, Laramie Shane Gullett and John Veldon McCarty and one great grandchild:  Peyton John McCarty.  In addition to her parents, Evenell was preceded in death by her husband:  Price Johnson; one brother:  Corbett Howard and one sister:  Doshia Walters.   Funeral services were conducted January 3, 2011 at the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Reed officiating.  Burial followed in the Johnson Family Cemetery at Lick Creek.  Arrangements were in care of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.

Of Stockbridge, MI, age 76, passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital on December 31, 2010. He was born the son of Elliott and Martha (Arnett) Wireman on September 9, 1934 in Waldo, Kentucky. On December 22, 1962 he married Wilma Sturgill and she survives. James proudly served in the United States Navy and retired from the Chelsea Proving Grounds. He loved hunting, farming, tractors and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the Kentucky Wildcats on TV, camping, gardening, traveling and John Wayne. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tammy (John) Salyer, George (Terry) Wireman; grandchildren, John (Becky) Salyer II, Malory, Kayla, James, Hope; and a great-granchild, John Salyer III. Also surviving are his siblings, Elsie Bailey, Stella (Art) Zachatias, Elliott (Polly) Wireman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Wireman; infant sister, Roseann Wireman; sisters, Roberta and Nora Wireman. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from the Church of Christ with Pastor Larrel Whitaker officiating. The family received friends at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association.

Paul Dudley Howard, age 67, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky and Okeechobee, Florida, passed away December 31, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Palm Beach, Florida.  Mr. Howard was born September 23, 1944 in Salyersville, Kentucky, the son of the late Lawrence Gray and Norse Lee Howard-Howard.  He served his country in the US Army and National Guard until being honorably discharged from both.  He was a member of the Salyersville Masonic Lodge #769 F&AM, Magoffin County Shrine Club, Magoffin County Chapter 15 DAV and the Smith & Wesson Club.  In his passing he leaves behind, one daughter:  Paula Howard Wood and husband Marcus Andrew Wood of the Middle East; son:  Dustin Howard of Salyersville, Kentucky, two sisters:  Sarah Maggard of Bedford, Texas and Nellie Salyer of Grayson, Kentucky and one granddaughter:  Raylee Anna Wood of the Middle East.  Also surviving is a host of family and friends who love and miss him.  Funeral Services for Paul Dudley Howard will be conducted Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Salyersville Funeral Home.  Comforting words will be given by clergy Marcus Andrew Wood.  Burial will follow in the Bluegrass Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Military Rites will be given by the Magoffin County Chapter 15 DAV on the day of the funeral.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Magoffin County Chapter 15 DAV.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home.

Phoebe Anne Caudill, age 85, a native of Magoffin County, KY, and a former resident of Daphne, AL, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010.
Mrs. Caudill was preceded in death by her husband, Allison Holland Caudill.
She is survived by her son, John Caudill and his wife Susan of Point Clear, AL,grandchildren, Phillip Lemons and his wife Carla of Staunton, VA,
Andrew Lemons and his wife Denyse of Austin, TX,
Jordan Caudill and his wife Lisa of Franklin, NC,
three great granddaughters, one great grandson, other relatives and friends. The family will have private graveside services at the Caudill Cemetery, near Salyersville, KY. Anne’s family would like to thank everyone at Catherine Place for the excellent care she was given.

Arnold B. Kimberlin, age 77, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away December 25, 2010 at the Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky.  Arnold was born January 28, 1933 the son of the late Tom and Carell Kimberlin.  Also preceding him in death are three brothers:  Sterling Kimberlin, Earnest Kimberlin and Henry Kimberlin; and one sister:  Nora Arnett.  In his passing he leaves behind, daughters:  Sherry Lynn, Roberta and Nora Jean; sons:  Melvin Kimberlin, James Edward Kimberlin and Tommy Darrel Kimberlin; sister:  Mae Holbrook of Fort Pierce, Florida.  Arnold served his country in the United States Army from March 5, 1953 until he was honorably discharged on February 26, 1955.  Remains were laid to rest at the Arnett Cemetery on Right Middle Fork.  Arrangements were in care of the Salyersville Funeral Home.

Cameron Bryce Mullins, age 4, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away December 23, 2010 at the Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV.  Cameron was born December 5, 2006 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, the son of James “Jimmy” Garcia and Jessica Mullins.  He is preceded in death by his Great-Parental Grandparents, Robert and Mary Arnett Hurt.  In his passing he leaves behind his Father:  James Garcia and fiancée Cindy of Salyersville, Kentucky; Mother:  Jessica Mullins of Salyersville, Kentucky, two sisters:  Brandie Rosamaria Garcia and Morgan Paige Rowe both of Salyersville, Kentucky; One brother:  Elijah Mullins of Salyersville, Kentucky; Paternal Grandparents:  Ygnacia Garcia Jr., of San Diego, California and Judy Garcia of Pocatello, Idaho; Maternal Grandparents:  Danny and Dorothy Mullins of Salyersville, Kentucky; Great Maternal Grandparents:  Herbert and Nanny Marshall of Salyersville, Kentucky.  Also surviving is a host of family and friends who love and miss him.  Funeral Services were held December 29, 2010 from the Salyersville Funeral Home.  Burial followed in the Bluegrass Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Arrangements were under the direction of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky.
