Jean F. Cummings of Jackson, Michigan passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the age of 84 years. Jean was the daughter of the late Sydney and Phoebe Arnett of Royalton, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 45 years, Thomas M. Cummings. Jean is survived by one daughter, Mary K. Howard; four sons, Gerald T. (Margie) Cummings, Paul Michael Cummings, Patrick T. (Rose) Cummings and Thomas F. (Karen) Cummings; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis (Bill) May; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernard Cummings, Fr. Paul Cummings, Leo (Glenda) Cummings, Sister Kathleen Cummings OLV, Richard (Mary Ann) Cummings, Theresa Hansel and Rosemary Kite. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ace, Russell and Bill Arnett; one sister, Cora Cox; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Cummings, Matt Cummings, Jim Cummings and Rita Frybarger. Jean came to Jackson as a young girl from Kentucky and began working in the food industry. She was a cook at many area restaurants in Jackson, including Schuler’s, Fields and Jacobson’s where she retired after 20 years as a cook and a baker of her delicious cheese bread and baked goods. She was also a member of the VFW #823 Auxiliary for 40 years. Prayer service followed by the Mass of Christian Burial was held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. Interment was at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan or Queens Parish.
