Body found in pond on Lick Branch

SALYERSVILLE - Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post 09 has opened a death investigation at Lick Branch Road in the Salyersville area. 

At approximately 7 p.m. KSP received a call from Magoffin County 911 requesting Kentucky State Police respond to a possible drowning. Troopers, responded to the scene along with two Fish and Wildlife units. 

Upon arrival of the Troopers and Fish and Wildlife officers, the investigation reveals Raymond Long, age 57 from Salyersville, was found unresponsive in a pond near his residence. Mr. Long was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Magoffin County Coroner’s Office.

Toxicology test and an autopsy have been requested. No foul play is suspected the case remains under the investigation of Trooper Paul Johnson.
