Edgar Fleming age 90 of Gunlock, Kentucky passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville, Kentucky. Edgar was born November 22, 1923 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Elijah and Lona Thacker Fleming. He is also preceded in death by his wife Lula Shepherd Fleming.
William "Bill" Calvin Prater age 59 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Friday April 4, 2014 in Salyersville, Kentucky. He was born October 9, 1954 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Calvin C. and Pauline Adams Prater. Survivors include his wife Sharon Holiday Prater, one son Benjamin Calvin Prater of Lexington, Kentucky and several family members and friends.

Ms. Howard was born in Salyersville, KY on April 8, 1930, and passed away April 4, 2014 at Hospice of Citrus County. She had been a resident of Citrus County FL for the past 14 years. She received her Masters degree in theater from Florida Atlantic University and after earning a law degree at the University of Florida, practiced law in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Ms. Howard is survived by her children Julian Hogan of Holly Hill FL, Lee Hogan of Atlanta GA and Garland Hogan of Manchester KY. Her eldest daughter, Celia Hogan, is deceased.
Beulah Jean Hopkins Bailey, age 82, a resident of East Maple Street in Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky.
Mrs. Bailey was born October 5, 1931 in McDowell, Kentucky the daughter of the late Guy and Vannie Moore Hopkins. Also, preceding her in death is her husband, Melvin Bailey, whom she married July 7, 1951; grandchildren, Stuart Ashley Bailey, Charity Lynn Hall; sister, Glenneda Hopkins; and brother, Paul Hopkins.
Mitchell Arnett age 83 of Bayes, Kentucky passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at his home. He was born January 31, 1931 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Joe and Dora Patrick Arnett. He is preceded in death by his first wife Cassie Wilson Arnett and survived by his second wife Oralee Oldfield Arnett.
Will Press “Pud” Conley, age 88, a resident of Auxier Branch in Salyersville, Kentucky; passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Conley was born March 16, 1927 in Salyersville, Kentucky the son of the late Bernie and Trennie Cooper Conley. Also, preceding him in death is son, Elbie Conley; sisters, Trixie Puckett, Julie Conley, Bess Conley; brothers, Ross, Russ, Bob, Walter, and Forest Conley.
Sharroll Kay Minix age 70 of Lexington, Kentucky formerly of Royalton, Kentucky passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born December 15, 1943 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Fred and Audie Gullett Minix. She is preceded in death by two sisters Frieda Minix and Clarice Minix. She is survived by many cousins.
Alvideen Arnett Salyer, age 84, a resident of Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
Mrs. Salyer was born January 2, 1930 in Salyersville, Kentucky the daughter of the late Charlie and Hattie Howard Arnett. Also, preceding her in death is her husband, Carl Salyer, and son, Dwayne Salyer.
Mrs. Salyer was employed as a merchant and a cook for the Magoffin County School System in Salyersville, Kentucky.
Mr. J.C. Rowe, age 78, of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on April 23, 1935 in Salyersville, Kentucky. He was the son of the late, Charlie and Mattie Back Rowe. He was raised in the Salyersville community and graduated school there. He then attended Eastern Kentucky State College. J.C. was inducted into the United States Army in December 1958 and rose to the rank of Private First class. He was honorably discharged in March 1960. On August 19, 1960, J.C. was united in marriage to Janice June Halcomb in Whitesburg, Kentucky.
Johnnie Helton age 60 of Hensley Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Salyersville Health Care Center in Salyersville, Kentucky. He was born August 23, 1953 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late John Helton and Vuramay Helton Patton. Survivors include one brother Larry (Vicky) Helton of Salyersville, Kentucky, two sisters Betty Helton and Joann Whitt of Salyersville, Kentucky, a special companion Juanita Bell and several nieces and nephews also survive.
